About This Event

This market will resolve according to the party of the candidate who wins the PA-05 congressional district seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2026 midterm elections. The midterm elections will take place on November 3, 2026. A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).

This analysis is awaiting a background update, so its prices may be older than the odds above.

What the contract measures

The Polymarket event "PA-05 House Election Winner" is listed in the supplied material as active and asks which party will win the PA-05 U.S. House seat in the 2026 midterm elections [1]. The rules state that the midterms "will take place on November 3, 2026" [1]. That date appears in the contract text. It is not a separate announcement of an event schedule.

The two markets in this snapshot use the same party-based wording. One asks whether the Democratic Party will win the seat and the other asks about the Republican Party [1]. The rules say a candidate's party is set by ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation when all 2026 House elections are "conclusively called," and that resolution follows "a consensus of credible reporting," with the Federal Election Commission's official results used if there is ambiguity [1]. The listed end time is 2026-11-04T04:59:00.000Z [1]. That is a listed close time, not a record that the seat has been decided.

Reading the snapshot

The provider observation time is 2026-10-24T15:00:06.814Z, and the source was retrieved at 2026-10-24T16:47:40.674Z [1]. These are past readings. They do not show live prices at the time you read this.

At the observation time, the Democratic "Yes" contract was priced at 0.982 and the "No" contract at 0.018. The Republican "Yes" contract was priced at 0.0155 and the "No" contract at 0.9845 [1]. These are quoted snapshot prices, not executable quotes or verified probabilities. The two Yes prices are separate contracts, so their small gap from a total of 1 is not a trading opportunity by itself. The evidence does not include volume or trader counts, so it says nothing about liquidity or how many people hold each view.

The sample covers both markets in this saved event, with 2 of 2 included and no partial sample flag [1]. The source notes that this does not establish that the provider lists every possible real-world outcome [1]. Because the sample is limited to these two markets, a reader should not treat the result as a complete field.

What remains uncertain

The evidence does not explain why either price was at its observed level. It also does not include any news, results, or later readings after the observation time. Other platforms and other contracts are not in this sample, so their prices should not be averaged with these figures or compared as if they had identical wording.

Overview

The PA-05 House Election Winner contract is a Polymarket event in the politics category about the U.S. House seat for Pennsylvania's 5th congressional district [1]. It resolves according to the party of the candidate who wins that seat in the 2026 midterm elections, and the rules state that those elections will take place on November 3, 2026 [1]. The event contains two binary contracts: one asks whether the Democratic Party wins the seat, and the other asks whether the Republican Party does [1]. The contract does not decide party membership from a candidate's name alone. Under the rules, a candidate's party is determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation at the time all 2026 House elections are conclusively called by the resolution sources [1]. A candidate with no ballot-listed affiliation to either major party is assigned to a party based on the party with which they most recently expressed intent to caucus at that same point [1]. Because the timing rule refers to when the House elections are called, a candidate's party for this contract depends on that standard rather than on filing-time labels. Resolution rests on a consensus of credible reporting. If that reporting is ambiguous, the market resolves solely on official results reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission [1]. The provider record lists an end time of 2026-11-04T04:59:00.000Z [1]. That is a listed contract end time, not evidence that a winner has been determined or announced. The saved event includes both party contracts, so this sample covers every market stored for this event [1]. That does not show that every possible real-world outcome is represented, and the two contracts should be read as the saved listings for this event only. Contract prices are snapshots from the provider record. They are not verified probabilities, and they are not executable quotes.

Historical Context

Background on the broader election system is available in a Wikipedia article on the 2024 U.S. House elections in Pennsylvania. It states that those elections were held on November 5, 2024, to elect the 17 U.S. representatives from Pennsylvania, one from each of the state's congressional districts [2]. The article also notes that the 2024 elections coincided with the presidential election and other House, Senate, state, and local elections, and that the primary elections were held on April 23, 2024 [2]. This describes the 2024 cycle and the state's district structure. It does not describe the 2026 race in District 5.

Why It Matters

The contract measures which party wins a single U.S. House seat in the 2026 midterms. Because it covers one district, it is narrower than a national House market. The resolution language defines the winner by party rather than by candidate, and it sets out how a candidate's affiliation is assigned when the ballot does not show a major-party listing [1]. Those rules determine what the contract pays on, so a reader should check the party timing and resolution sources before interpreting the contract's outcome.

Snapshot context

The latest published provider snapshot for this topic was observed on 2026-10-24 at 15:00 UTC. It contains listings from Polymarket. Market descriptions and listed closing times define the contracts; they do not establish that the real-world outcome has occurred. This article does not include a separately verified news update. Frequently Asked Questions

Which election does this contract cover?

The contract covers the PA-05 seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2026 midterm elections, with the rules stating that the elections will take place on November 3, 2026 [1].

How is a candidate's party decided?

The party is based on a ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation at the time all 2026 House elections are conclusively called. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to the Democratic or Republican parties is assigned to the party with which they most recently expressed intent to caucus at that time [1].

What happens if the reporting is unclear?

If there is ambiguity, the market resolves solely on the official results reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission [1].

Does the listed end time mean the result is known?

No. The listed end time of 2026-11-04T04:59:00.000Z is part of the provider record [1]. It is not evidence that the seat's winner has been determined.

Do the contract prices show the likely winner?

The prices are snapshots from the provider's market listing [1]. They are not verified probabilities or executable quotes, so they should not be read as confirmation of which party will win.
