About This Event

This market will resolve to "Yes" if the number of receiving touchdowns Sam LaPorta records during the 2026-27 NFL regular season equals or exceeds the listed number. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". If Sam LaPorta does not play in the 2026-27 NFL regular season for any reason, this market will resolve to "No". If the 2026-27 NFL regular season is shortened, truncated, or ends early for any reason, the outcome shall be determined using available official data for completed games. If the 2026-27 NFL regular season is cancelled, postponed after January 26, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or it cannot be determined how many receiving touchdowns Sam LaPorta recorded within that timeframe, this market will resolve to "50-50". The resolution source for this market will be official information from the NFL; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

This analysis is awaiting a background update, so its prices may be older than the odds above.

What the contract measures

This event contains three Polymarket contracts on Sam LaPorta's receiving touchdowns in the 2026-27 NFL regular season. Each asks whether his total meets or exceeds a listed threshold: 4.5, 6.5, or 8.5 [1]. The rules resolve "Yes" if the count equals or exceeds the number, and "No" otherwise. If LaPorta does not play in the regular season for any reason, the market resolves "No" [1].

The rules also set edge cases. If the season is shortened or ends early, the outcome uses available official data for completed games. If the season is cancelled, or postponed after January 26, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or the count cannot be determined, the market resolves "50-50" [1]. That January 26 date is a contract rule, not an announced event. The stated resolution source is official NFL information, though a consensus of credible reporting may also be used [1].

The listed end time is 2027-01-27 04:59 UTC [1]. This is the contract's listed close, not the date the outcome is determined.

Reading the snapshot

The provider observed these prices at 2026-10-16 03:00 UTC, and this review retrieved the record at 05:02 UTC the same day [1]. The prices are snapshots, not executable quotes or verified probabilities.

  • 4.5 or more: Yes 0.829, No 0.171 [1]
  • 6.5 or more: Yes 0.34, No 0.66 [1]
  • 8.5 or more: Yes 0.26, No 0.74 [1]

Each contract's Yes and No prices sum to 1.00 in this snapshot. The three thresholds are separate contracts, so their prices should not be read as a single distribution or averaged. The saved record does not include volume, so it says nothing about liquidity or how many people traded.

The sample covers all three saved markets for this event, and the record states that it is not a partial sample [1]. It does not establish that every possible real-world outcome is listed, so the sample describes only these three thresholds.

What remains uncertain

The evidence does not explain why prices are where they are, and no recent news about LaPorta or the schedule is included. No other platform's contracts appear here, so this review cannot compare wording or close times across providers. Contracts with different thresholds or rules should not be treated as an arbitrage opportunity because their prices differ.

Overview

This PredictPedia entry covers a sports prediction event on Polymarket that asks how many receiving touchdowns Sam LaPorta will record in the 2026-27 NFL regular season [1]. The event contains three yes-or-no contracts at different thresholds: whether he will have 4.5 or more, 6.5 or more, or 8.5 or more receiving touchdowns in that regular season [1]. Each contract is a separate question. A contract resolves to "Yes" if the count equals or meets the listed number, and to "No" otherwise [1]. The rules also set out what happens in unusual cases. If LaPorta does not play in the 2026-27 regular season for any reason, the contract resolves to "No" [1]. If the regular season is shortened, truncated, or ends early, the outcome is determined from available official data for completed games [1]. If the season is cancelled, is postponed after January 26, 2027 at 11:59 PM ET, or it cannot be determined how many receiving touchdowns he recorded in that window, the contract resolves to "50-50" [1]. The listed end time for the event is 2027-01-27T04:59:00.000Z, which corresponds to the January 26, 2027 cutoff in the rules [1]. The resolution source is official information from the NFL, although a consensus of credible reporting may also be used [1]. Because the contract counts only regular season touchdowns, playoff games are not part of the stated count.

Historical Context

LaPorta played college football for the Iowa Hawkeyes, and he was named the Big Ten Tight End of the Year in 2022 [2]. For background on how the league's calendar works, the 2024 NFL season began on September 5, 2024, and its regular season concluded on January 5, 2025, with the playoffs following [3]. That earlier season is a past event and does not describe the 2026-27 schedule, which this contract ties to a regular season ending on or before the listed cutoffs [1].

Why It Matters

The contract measures a single statistic: the number of receiving touchdowns Sam LaPorta records in the 2026-27 NFL regular season [1]. Because the three thresholds are set at different levels, the event asks separate questions about how productive his receiving touchdown total will be, without combining them into one ranking [1]. The rules tie the outcome to official NFL information, so the contract's meaning depends on how the season and the player's participation actually unfold [1].

Snapshot context

The latest published provider snapshot for this topic was observed on 2026-10-16 at 03:00 UTC. It contains listings from Polymarket. Market descriptions and listed closing times define the contracts; they do not establish that the real-world outcome has occurred. This article does not include a separately verified news update.
