About This Event
This market will resolve according to the party of the candidate who wins the CA-07 congressional district seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2026 midterm elections. The midterm elections will take place on November 3, 2026. A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).

What the contract measures
The Polymarket event "CA-07 House Election Winner" resolves according to the party of the candidate who wins the CA-07 congressional district seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2026 midterm elections [1]. The contract states that the midterm elections will take place on November 3, 2026 [1]. The event uses a party test rather than a candidate name. A candidate's party is set by their "ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation" when the House elections are conclusively called [1]. A candidate with no ballot-listed affiliation to either major party is assigned a party based on the party with which they most recently expressed intent to caucus [1].
Resolution relies on "a consensus of credible reporting." If that is ambiguous, the market resolves on official results from the Federal Election Commission [1]. The listed end time is 2026-11-04T04:59:00.000Z [1].
Reading the snapshot
The saved snapshot was observed at 2026-10-15T21:00:05.939Z and retrieved at 2026-10-15T23:49:50.884Z [1]. It describes market conditions at those times, not the present.
Two binary markets appear in the sample. The market "Will the Democratic Party win the CA-07 House seat?" shows a Yes price of 0.972 and a No price of 0.028 [1]. The market "Will the Republican Party win the CA-07 House seat?" shows a Yes price of 0.023 and a No price of 0.977 [1]. These prices are snapshots, not executable quotes or verified probabilities. The two Yes prices are separate contracts and should not be summed or treated as a single estimate. Their difference from each other is not an arbitrage signal by itself.
Volume is not included in this summary, so the snapshot says nothing about liquidity or the number of traders.
What remains uncertain
The sample includes both saved markets for this event, and the partial sample flag is false [1]. The source notes that this does not establish that the provider lists every possible real-world outcome [1]. The sample therefore covers only these two party-level contracts.
The wording differs slightly between the rules text ("Democrat" and "Republican parties") and the market titles ("Democratic Party" and "Republican Party") [1]. The resolution depends on the rules, so readers should check the full contract text.
The listed end time falls after the stated election date [1]. The evidence does not explain that gap, and it does not establish when official results will be called. Nothing in the supplied evidence reports the outcome or any post-snapshot developments.

Overview
The CA-07 House Election Winner contract is a Polymarket event tied to the 2026 U.S. House race in California's 7th congressional district. The market resolves according to the party of the candidate who wins the seat in the 2026 midterm elections, which the rules state will take place on November 3, 2026 [1]. The event is one of the 2026 California House contests covered by Wikipedia, which says those elections will be held on November 3, 2026 and that the state's primary elections took place on June 2, 2026 [3]. The contract does not ask which named candidate wins. It asks which party wins. The saved event includes two separate yes or no contracts: one on whether the Democratic Party wins the seat and one on whether the Republican Party wins it [1]. Each contract has its own Yes and No outcomes. Because they are separate contracts, their prices should be read on their own terms rather than compared as a pair. The rules define how a party is assigned. A candidate's party is based on the ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation at the time all 2026 House elections are conclusively called by the market's resolution sources. A candidate with no ballot-listed affiliation to the Democratic or Republican parties is assigned to a party based on which one they most recently expressed intent to caucus with at that same time [1].
Historical Context
The supplied Wikipedia material gives limited background. It states that the passage of Proposition 50 in 2025 significantly altered many California districts, which affects the 2026 House elections in the state [3]. It does not describe the history of the CA-07 seat or prior results in that district, so no further district history is provided here.
Why It Matters
The contract measures which party wins the CA-07 U.S. House seat in the 2026 midterm elections, as defined by the market's rules [1]. Its resolution depends on the outcome as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If that is ambiguous, the official results reported by the federal government, through the Federal Election Commission, control [1]. The saved event lists an end time of 2026-11-04T04:59:00.000Z [1], but that listed time is a contract setting, not a report that results have been announced. Wikipedia's list of close election results covers races decided by a margin of less than 1 vote in 1,000 and limited to elections with at least 1,000 votes cast [2]. That list is a general reference for narrow contests. It does not state the outcome of CA-07, so it should not be read as a signal about this race.
Snapshot context
The latest published provider snapshot for this topic was observed on 2026-10-15 at 21:00 UTC. It contains listings from Polymarket. Market descriptions and listed closing times define the contracts; they do not establish that the real-world outcome has occurred. This article does not include a separately verified news update. [1]
Frequently Asked Questions
When is the election this contract refers to?
The rules state that the 2026 midterm elections will take place on November 3, 2026 [1]. Wikipedia's California House election page gives the same election date [3].
Does the contract ask about a specific candidate?
No. The contract resolves according to the party of the candidate who wins the CA-07 seat, not the identity of that candidate [1].
How is the winner's party determined if a candidate has no party label on the ballot?
The rules assign a party based on the one with which the candidate most recently expressed intent to caucus, measured at the time all 2026 House elections are conclusively called by the resolution sources [1].
What source resolves the market if the result is unclear?
The market resolves based on a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, it resolves based solely on official results reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission [1].
Do the saved prices show the chance that a party wins?
The saved prices are snapshots from a specific observation time. They are not executable quotes, and they should not be treated as verified probabilities of the outcome.
