About This Event

This market will resolve to "Yes" if the listed club is determined as the runner-up of the OBOS-ligaen (Norway) for the 2026 season. Otherwise, it will resolve to "No". If at any point it becomes impossible for a listed participant to finish as runner-up of OBOS-ligaen (Norway) for the 2026 season per the rules of OBOS-ligaen (Norway) (e.g., the participant is eliminated), the corresponding market will resolve to "No". If multiple teams are declared as second-place finishers, this market will resolve in favor of the team whose listed name comes first alphabetically. If this event is cancelled, postponed after December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or a runner-up has not been declared within this timeframe, this market will resolve to "Other". The resolution source will be official information from the OBOS-ligaen (Norway); however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

This analysis is awaiting a background update, so its prices may be older than the odds above.

Snapshot observed 2026-10-16T03:00:06.094Z. This analysis describes that snapshot and is not a live news update.

What the contract measures

Each market in this snapshot asks whether a single named club will be the runner-up in the 2026 OBOS-ligaen (Norway) season. The rules state that the market resolves "Yes" if the listed club is determined as runner-up, and "No" otherwise [1]. If a listed club becomes unable to finish as runner-up under the league's rules, for example because it has been eliminated, its market resolves "No" [1].

The rules also set tie-breaking and fallback terms. If several teams are declared second-place finishers, the market resolves in favor of the team whose name comes first alphabetically [1]. If the event is cancelled, is postponed past December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or no runner-up is declared in that window, the market resolves to "Other" [1]. The listed end time is 2027-01-01T04:59:00Z [1]. That is a closing time in the contract data, not an announced event date.

Reading the snapshot

The provider observed these prices at 2026-10-16T03:00:06Z, and the record was retrieved at 2026-10-16T05:58:37Z [1]. These are snapshot prices from one moment. They are not executable quotes, and they are not verified probabilities.

The eight saved markets show these Yes prices: Kongsvinger 0.49, Stabæk 0.475, Odd 0.375, Egersund 0.36, and Bryne, Haugesund, Hødd and Strømsgodset at 0.38 each [1]. Kongsvinger and Stabæk sit highest in this sample. Four clubs share the same 0.38 Yes price, so the snapshot does not separate them.

The coverage record reports 8 total markets, 8 included, and no partial sample [1]. The sampleWarning, however, states that the saved markets do not establish that the provider lists every possible real-world outcome [1]. The Yes prices here sum to about 3.22, so they do not form a complete probability distribution across the listed clubs. Each price should be read on its own.

What remains uncertain

The evidence does not include standings, match results, or any reporting on the 2026 season, so this snapshot cannot indicate how the race stands now. It also does not explain any movement in prices. Only one source is supplied, and it is a single provider event, so no comparison with other platforms is possible.

Overview

The OBOS-ligaen is the second-highest level of the Norwegian football league system, and it is also called 1. divisjon [2]. At the end of each season, the top finishing teams are promoted to the Eliteserien, and the lowest finishing teams are relegated to 2. divisjon [2]. The Polymarket event titled OBOS-ligaen (Norway): 2026 Runner-Up asks which club will finish second in the 2026 season [1]. The contract for each listed club resolves to Yes if that club is determined as the runner-up for the 2026 season, and to No otherwise [1]. If a listed club becomes unable to finish as runner-up under the league's rules, for example because it has been eliminated, its contract resolves to No [1]. If more than one team is declared a second-place finisher, the market resolves in favor of the team whose listed name comes first alphabetically [1]. If the event is cancelled, is postponed beyond December 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET, or no runner-up has been declared within that timeframe, the market resolves to Other [1]. The resolution source is official information from the league, although a consensus of credible reporting may also be used [1]. The provider lists an end time of 2027-01-01T04:59:00.000Z [1]. That is the listed end time in the contract rules, not an announced date for any league event. The saved provider data includes eight markets, one for each listed club: Kongsvinger, Stabæk, Bryne, Haugesund, Hødd, Strømsgodset, Odd and Egersund [1]. All eight saved markets are included in this sample, and the provider reports the event as active [1]. The sample does not establish that the provider lists every possible real-world outcome, so a club that is not among these eight is not covered by these contracts [1]. The prices in this sample were observed by the provider at 2026-10-16T03:00:06.094Z [1]. They are snapshots of a point in time and are not executable quotes or verified probabilities.

Historical Context

The Norwegian First Division, also called 1. divisjon and OBOS-ligaen, sits second in the Norwegian football league system, below the Eliteserien [2]. Its promotion and relegation links to the top tier and to 2. divisjon are the reason a runner-up finish matters to clubs in the league [2]. Association football is the most popular sport in Norway, and the Football Association of Norway was founded in 1902 [3]. The sources supplied do not describe the history of the 2026 season or of earlier OBOS-ligaen runner-up races.

Why It Matters

The contract measures whether a specific club is declared the runner-up of the 2026 OBOS-ligaen season under the league's rules and the resolution terms [1]. Because the league is the second tier and promotes its top finishers to the Eliteserien, the runner-up position is tied to the league's promotion structure [2]. The contract's rules also describe what happens in edge cases: an eliminated club resolves to No, a tie between second-place clubs is settled alphabetically, and cancellation or a missing declaration by the deadline resolves to Other [1]. Traders reading the listed prices should treat them as snapshots at the observation time and not as verified probabilities of the outcome [1].

Snapshot context

The latest published provider snapshot for this topic was observed on 2026-10-16 at 03:00 UTC. It contains listings from Polymarket. Market descriptions and listed closing times define the contracts; they do not establish that the real-world outcome has occurred. This article does not include a separately verified news update.
