About This Event
This market will resolve according to the company that owns the model that has the highest arena rank among primarily Chinese companies, based on the arena.ai Text Arena (Overall) when the table under the "Leaderboard" tab is checked on October 31, 2026, 12:00 PM ET. Chinese Companies include but are not limited to Alibaba, Moonshot, Baidu, Z.ai, Xiaomi, DeepSeek, ByteDance, MiniMax, Meituan, Tencent, and StepFun. Companies not headquartered in China or not primarily owned or operating within the Chinese technology ecosystem are not considered primarily Chinese. Results from the "Rank" column under the "Text Arena | Overall" Leaderboard tab at https://arena.ai/leaderboard/text/overall-no-style-control with style control off (Adjustments: None) and filtered for "Models" will be used to resolve this market. Note: Models marked “AutoEval” at the applicable check time will not be considered, regardless of whether they display a rank or score. Qualifying Chinese Models will be ordered primarily by their leaderboard rank at the market’s check time. If two or more models are tied on rank, they will be ordered by their Arena score, including any underlying, unrounded, granular values reflected in the data below the leaderboard. If a tie still remains, alphabetical order of company names as listed in this market group will be used as a final tiebreaker (e.g., if the two models are tied by exact arena score, “Meituan” would be ranked ahead of “Xiaomi”). This market will resolve based on the company that occupies first place under this ranking. The resolution source for this market is the arena.ai Text Arena (Overall). If this resolution source is unavailable at check time, this market will remain open until the leaderboard comes back online and will resolve based on the first check after it becomes available. If it becomes permanently unavailable, this market will resolve to "Other".

What the contract measures
These snapshots cover four contracts that ask which company has the top-ranked Chinese AI model on a specified date. Kalshi's contracts resolve on the Arena AI Text Score with style control removed, checked at 10:00am ET on each named date. The company must be headquartered in mainland China, and tied rankings follow the publisher's tie-breaking method or, if none exists, share the highest rank [1][3][4]. Polymarket's end-of-October contract uses the arena.ai Text Arena (Overall) leaderboard with style control off, checked on October 31, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET. It excludes models marked "AutoEval," breaks ties by score and then alphabetically, and stays open if the leaderboard is unavailable [2].
The rules differ in more than wording. Kalshi lists no end time for its October 19 and October 26 events, while the October 31 Kalshi event and the Polymarket event list end times of 2026-10-31T14:00:00.000Z and 2026-10-31T16:00:00.000Z, respectively [1][2][3][4]. Because these are different contracts, their prices should not be averaged or treated as a single forecast.
Reading the snapshot
The data were observed at 2026-10-19T03:00:06.086Z, and the retrieved timestamp is 03:07:52 UTC on the same day. These are provider prices at that moment, not executable quotes or verified probabilities.
On Polymarket's end-of-October contract, Xiaomi's Yes price was 0.5465, followed by Moonshot at 0.13 and Alibaba at 0.125 [2]. On Kalshi's contract for the week of October 19, Xiaomi was at 0.745 and Alibaba at 0.12 [3]. On Kalshi's end-of-October contract, Xiaomi was at 0.495 and Z.ai at 0.285 [4]. Each of these lists is a separate event, so the rankings should be compared only within the same event. Volume and trader counts are not included here, so this snapshot says nothing about liquidity or how many people hold each view.
The saved samples include all markets for these events, but the provider notes that this does not establish that every possible real-world outcome is listed. Absent companies in one event cannot be read as having lower prices.
What remains uncertain
The snapshot does not explain why any price moved, and it does not show recent news or any historical accuracy. Polymarket's December contract appears in the data, but no rule excerpt for that event was supplied, so its wording cannot be compared with the other contracts. The final resolution depends on the leaderboard at each stated check time, and the Kalshi contracts for October 19 and October 26 list no end time, so their close timing cannot be confirmed from this evidence.

Saved Oct 19, 2026 UTCOverview
This topic covers event contracts that ask which Chinese AI company will hold the top position on the Arena AI Text leaderboard at a stated check time. Kalshi lists separate events for the week of October 12th, the week of October 19th, and a month-end check on October 31, 2026 [1][3][4]. Polymarket lists an "end of October" event and an "end of December" event [2]. Each Kalshi contract resolves to Yes if the named company's model is the highest-ranked Chinese AI company model on Arena AI Text Score with style control removed, measured at 10:00am ET on the stated date [1][3][4]. The Polymarket October event uses the Text Arena Overall table with style control off, checked on October 31, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET [2]. The contracts differ in how they define a qualifying company. Kalshi requires a company whose global or primary operational headquarters is in mainland China [1]. Polymarket counts companies that are primarily Chinese and names Alibaba, Moonshot, Baidu, Z.ai, Xiaomi, DeepSeek, ByteDance, MiniMax, Meituan, Tencent, and StepFun as examples, while stating that the list is not exhaustive [2]. Polymarket excludes models marked AutoEval at the check time, ranks qualifying models by leaderboard rank, and uses Arena score and then alphabetical company order to break ties [2]. Kalshi applies the publisher's official tie-breaking method when one exists. If none exists, tied entities share the highest rank, and tied candidates divide the contract payout according to the number of tied candidates, rounded down [1]. Timing matters for reading these contracts. The provider observations in the evidence were recorded at 03:00 UTC on October 19, 2026, which is before the 10:00am ET check for the October 19 weekly Kalshi contract [1][3]. The saved end dates for the Kalshi weekly and monthly events are shown as 14:00 UTC on their respective dates, and Polymarket's October event lists an end time of 16:00 UTC on October 31, 2026 [1][2][3][4]. Kalshi's rules state that a market will close and expire early if the event occurs [1][3][4]. Any check results, final rankings, or settlements after the observation time are not part of this evidence. The saved market samples include every market recorded for the five events, according to the provider coverage. Kalshi's week of October 12th event has 10 markets, Polymarket's October event has 11, Kalshi's week of October 19th event has 10, Kalshi's monthly event has 9, and Polymarket's December event has 11 [1][2][3][4]. These counts describe the saved provider events only. The rankings and prices for different events are not combined here, because each event has its own rules, check time, and set of companies. The contracts measure a narrow outcome: which qualifying company's top model holds first place on one specified text leaderboard at one specified check time. They do not measure overall AI capability, company size, or product usage. Prices in these markets are observed snapshots of trading activity, not executable quotes or verified probabilities, and a difference in price between contracts on different events does not by itself indicate an opportunity.
Historical Context
Z.ai was formerly known as Zhipu AI outside China until 2025, according to its Wikipedia entry [5]. The same source states that it became China's first major LLM company to make an initial public offering, on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in January 2026 [5]. The source reports a market capitalization of US$62 billion as of August 2026 [5].
Why It Matters
These contracts turn a leaderboard position into a tradable outcome. Because the rules specify a qualifying company definition, a ranking source, a check time, and a tie-breaking method, the result depends on those details rather than on any general view of AI quality [1][2][3][4]. Kalshi's contracts use the Arena AI Text Score with style control removed, while Polymarket uses the Text Arena Overall table with style control off [1][2]. Readers should compare the specific terms of each event before drawing conclusions from the prices shown for it [1][2][3][4].
Snapshot context
The latest published provider snapshot for this topic was observed on 2026-10-19 at 03:00 UTC. It contains listings from Kalshi and Polymarket. Market descriptions and listed closing times define the contracts; they do not establish that the real-world outcome has occurred. This article does not include a separately verified news update. [1]
Frequently Asked Questions
What determines whether a company qualifies in the Kalshi contracts?
Kalshi defines a qualifying Chinese AI company as one whose global or primary operational headquarters is located in mainland China [1][3][4].
How does Polymarket handle models that are tied on rank?
Polymarket orders tied models by their Arena score, including unrounded values shown below the leaderboard. If a tie remains, it uses alphabetical order of company names as listed in the market group [2].
What happens if the leaderboard is unavailable at the check time?
Polymarket states that if the resolution source is unavailable at check time, the market remains open until the leaderboard returns and resolves on the first check after it becomes available. If the source becomes permanently unavailable, the market resolves to Other [2].
Are the saved prices a complete picture of every possible outcome?
No. The saved events include all recorded markets for each event, but the evidence does not establish that the providers list every possible real-world company or outcome [1][2][3][4].
