Polymarket vs Kalshi vs others

Choose a prediction market platform by checking whether you can use the specific product, how its contracts settle and what a complete trade costs. A low displayed price is useful only if the outcome, available quantity and withdrawal conditions fit your needs.

Check eligibility before depositing

Polymarket's international service and Polymarket US are distinct products. International geographic restrictions must not be treated as permission to use the US service, or vice versa. Consult the product's own eligibility page; Polymarket prohibits bypassing international restrictions with VPNs.[1] Kalshi's onboarding includes identity verification.[2] Availability can depend on your location and the product, so complete the provider's eligibility checks before moving funds.

PredictPedia is an information service. An account here does not open or verify a trading account at either exchange.

Compare the contract you actually want

Make a small comparison sheet before choosing where to trade:

CheckEvidence to record
ContractExact question, side and ticker or market ID
SettlementNamed source, deadline, time zone and exceptions
ExecutionBest offer and quantity available at your target price
Total costEntry cost, applicable fees and likely exit cost
FundingAccepted method, any hold and withdrawal requirements
Account controlLogin security, recovery process and support contact

Both Polymarket and Kalshi publish market-specific resolution rules.[3][4] Compare those rules directly. A contract about an announcement and one about an action taking effect are not substitutes merely because their titles mention the same policy.

Compare a realistic order size

For a hypothetical 100-contract purchase, a 48-cent offer with a two-cent entry fee costs $50. A 49-cent offer with no entry fee costs $49. This example illustrates the comparison method, not either platform's fee schedule. If only ten contracts are available at the headline price, calculate the rest using the deeper order book.

Use a small trial transaction to learn the order confirmation and account history screens. Check how a cancellation is acknowledged and where completed fills appear. A submitted order is not necessarily a filled position.

Decide what you need to learn first

If you cannot explain a market's settlement condition, start with evaluating resolution risk. If the funding method is unfamiliar, read funding your account before sending money. If you cannot form a probability estimate independent of the market display, observing or paper-tracking the market is a useful alternative to buying a position.

Keep the provider's original rules and transaction records. A platform comparison is a decision for a particular trade and account, not a permanent ranking of every market it offers.
