An experienced Polymarket user needs to reconcile the wallet, orders and settlement process, not merely watch price changes. This guide concerns the international platform documented at docs.polymarket.com; verify that you are eligible for that product before trading.[5]

Distinguish signer and account wallet

Polymarket's authentication documentation distinguishes the signing identity from the account wallet and supports several wallet types.[1] Record the account wallet shown by the platform before investigating balances or transactions. The address that signs a message is not always the address holding the position.

Store recovery material securely and never paste it into a calculator, chat or support form. For an integration, use the provider's current SDK and authentication instructions instead of copying old contract addresses from a blog. Check that the intended account and network appear before authorizing an operation.

Choose order behavior deliberately

The current order API supports resting orders and immediate execution types, including fill-or-kill and fill-and-kill.[2] The distinction matters when coordinating several transactions:

Order behaviorPractical question
Resting limit orderWill I still want this position if news changes before it fills?
Fill-or-killMust the entire requested size fill together?
Fill-and-killCan I manage the exposure left by a partial fill?

Verify actual fills after every submission. A cancellation request does not undo an already completed trade. In a two-platform strategy, an all-or-nothing order on one venue does not make both venues execute atomically.

Read resolution details before proposing or disputing

Polymarket documents UMA resolution for prediction markets and Chainlink TWAP resolution for up-down markets.[3] Follow the method stated for your specific market. Do not assume every product has the same dispute path.

For a UMA-resolved question, preserve the rules and any additional context, then find the primary evidence that satisfies them. Proposals and disputes require a bond and have time-sensitive procedures. The ordinary task of redeeming a settled position is different from putting capital at risk to propose an outcome.[3]

Reconcile collateral and redemption

The international platform's current documentation describes pUSD as its trading collateral.[4] Use current deposit and redemption instructions rather than assuming an old USDC workflow still applies unchanged. Reconcile balances with filled trades, open orders, fees and redeemed positions; exclude an unconfirmed transaction from available cash until it settles.

Maintain a small operational ledger with market ID, outcome token, wallet, transaction or order ID and expected balance change. This makes it easier to investigate a missing fill without exposing credentials. Review resolution risk and order-book depth before increasing position size.
