About This Event

The 2026 KS-04 House election is currently expected to be held on November 3, 2026. This market will resolve according to the margin of victory between the top two candidates in the specified election. The "margin of victory" is defined as the absolute difference between the percentages of valid votes received by the first-place and second-place candidates. Percentages of the valid votes received by each candidate will be determined by dividing the total number of valid votes each of the top two candidates receives by the sum of all valid votes cast in the election. For purposes of this market, candidates nominated by the Democratic & Republican Parties will represent the options for "Democrat" and "Republican," respectively. Independent candidates will not represent options for either party. The candidates may be named in the contract for the convenience of traders. In the event that any named candidate is replaced as the nominee of their respective party prior to election day, the name in the contract will be updated and the market will resolve based on the replacement nominee of the party. If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher margin bracket. If two or more candidates tie for the most valid votes in this election, and the tie is between two candidates listed, this market will resolve to the lowest margin bracket for the candidate whose ballot-listed last name comes first in alphabetical order. If the tie is between a listed candidate and an unlisted candidate, this market will resolve to the lowest margin bracket for the listed candidate. If the tie is between two or more unlisted candidates, this market will resolve to "Other." If the listed candidate is represented in this market group as "Republican" or "Democrat" their ballot-listed last name will still be used for tiebreaking. This market will resolve based on the official vote count once the count has been made official. If the election results are not known definitively by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". If a recount is initiated before the vote total has been made official, the market will remain open until the recount is completed and the vote is made official. The primary resolution source for this market will be the official results of the 2026 KS-04 House election as published by the state electoral authority responsible for certifying the results of the election; however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

What the contract measures

The source defines the margin of victory as "the absolute difference between the percentages of valid votes received by the first-place and second-place candidates" [1]. Each bracket market asks whether the Republican Party candidate wins by a stated range. The separate Democrat market asks only whether the Democratic Party candidate wins [1]. Because the Democrat contract is a win question, it is not a margin bracket and should not be read as the mirror image of the Republican margin contracts.

The source also sets resolution rules. If a reported value falls exactly between two brackets, the market resolves to the higher margin bracket. Ties are resolved by ballot-listed last name or, if both leaders are unlisted, to "Other" [1]. The source states that the market resolves on the official vote count, and that if results are not known definitively by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, it resolves to "Other" [1]. The listed end time is 2026-11-04T04:59:00.000Z, and the source says the election is "currently expected to be held on November 3, 2026" [1]. The end time and the June 30, 2027 date are contract rules, not announced events.

Reading the snapshot

The provider observed these prices at 2026-10-15T21:00:05.939Z, and the source was retrieved at 2026-10-15T23:21:43.428Z [1]. These are historical snapshot values, not live quotes. The eight included Yes prices were: 15%-20% at 0.29, 0%-5% at 0.261, 20%-25% at 0.195, 10%-15% at 0.178, 25%-30% at 0.07, 30% or more at 0.059, 5%-10% at 0.0335, and the Democrat win contract at 0.0565 [1]. A price is not a verified probability, and volume is not a measure of liquidity or trader count.

Each bracket should be read on its own terms. The sample includes all eight saved markets for this one event, so the listing is complete for that record, but the source notes that this "does not establish that the providers list every possible real-world outcome" [1]. An omitted outcome should not be assumed to have a lower price.

What remains uncertain

The evidence does not explain why any price was at its level, and it provides no news, polling, or trader information. It also does not show whether the brackets cover every possible result, and it does not include executable prices or cross-platform comparisons. Any difference between prices on this event and on another platform should not be treated as an arbitrage opportunity without matching contract wording, tie rules, and close times.

Overview

This PredictPedia contract concerns the margin of victory in the 2026 KS-04 House election. The contract rules state that the election is currently expected to be held on November 3, 2026 [1]. That date comes from the contract rules and is not an announced event date. The contract resolves according to the gap between the top two candidates in the specified election [1]. The margin is defined as the absolute difference between the percentages of valid votes received by the first-place and second-place candidates. Each percentage is calculated by dividing a candidate's valid votes by the total valid votes cast in the election [1]. Because the measure is an absolute difference, it does not indicate which party finished ahead. Each bracket is a range of margins, and the rules specify how boundary values are handled. If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, the contract resolves to the higher margin bracket [1]. The rules also address who counts as a contestant. Candidates nominated by the Democratic and Republican Parties represent the "Democrat" and "Republican" options. Independent candidates do not represent either option [1]. If a named nominee is replaced before election day, the contract name is updated and the market resolves based on the party's replacement nominee [1]. The contract also includes tie rules. A tie between two listed candidates resolves to the lowest margin bracket for the candidate whose ballot-listed last name comes first alphabetically. A tie between two or more unlisted candidates resolves to "Other" [1]. Resolution depends on the official count. The primary resolution source is the official result published by the state electoral authority that certifies the election, although an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting may also be used [1]. If a recount is started before the total becomes official, the market stays open until the recount finishes and the vote is certified [1]. If results are not known definitively by June 30, 2027, at 11:59 PM ET, the contract resolves to "Other" [1]. The saved event includes eight contracts. These cover several margin brackets for the Republican candidate, a bracket for a 30 percent or more Republican margin, and a contract on whether the Democratic candidate wins [1]. The saved set includes every market recorded for this event, so the sample is complete for that event. It does not establish that every possible real-world outcome is listed.

Historical Context

The supplied encyclopedia entries describe a different race. One entry covers the 2018 Kansas gubernatorial election, held on November 6, 2018, to elect the state's governor [2]. Another covers the 2026 Kansas gubernatorial election, scheduled for November 3, 2026, with primaries held on August 4, 2026. That entry notes that incumbent Democratic governor Laura Kelly is term-limited [3]. These entries do not describe the KS-04 House race, its nominees, or its margin, so they provide only general state election background and do not establish the current status of the KS-04 contest.

Why It Matters

The contract measures how close the KS-04 House election will be between the top two candidates, using the absolute gap in valid vote shares [1]. Its brackets let traders express views on different margin ranges rather than on a single winner. The rules define the measure precisely, including how independents, replacement nominees, ties, boundary values, recounts, and a missing certification by June 30, 2027 are handled [1]. Those rules determine the outcome, so the margin definition and resolution source should be read in full before interpreting any contract.
