About This Event

This market will resolve in favor of the team that finishes the 2026-27 NFL regular season with the most interceptions. In the event of a tie, this market will resolve in favor of the tied team with more passes defended during the 2026-27 NFL regular season. If a tie still persists, this market will resolve in favor of the team with fewer total yards allowed per game (total yards allowed divided by games played) during the 2026-27 NFL regular season. If a tie still persists, this market will resolve to “Other”. If the 2026-27 NFL season concludes early, is shortened, or is truncated for any reason, the outcome shall be determined using available NFL statistics for completed games. If the 2026-27 NFL regular season is cancelled, postponed after January 26, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or it is unclear which team led the NFL in interceptions within that timeframe, this market will resolve to “Other”. The resolution source for this market will be official information from the NFL; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

This analysis is awaiting a background update, so its prices may be older than the odds above.

What the contract measures

The supplied rules for this Polymarket event resolve each team market in favor of the team that "finishes the 2026-27 NFL regular season with the most interceptions" [1]. Ties go to the tied team with more passes defended, then to the team with fewer total yards allowed per game. If a tie still persists, the market resolves to "Other" [1].

The rules also set a cancellation path. If the regular season is cancelled, is postponed after January 26, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or leaves it unclear which team led the NFL in interceptions, the market resolves to "Other" [1]. The listed end time is 2027-01-27T04:59:00.000Z [1]. That is a closing time for trading, not an announced event date. Contracts in this event should be compared on these exact tie-break and cancellation terms, since wording differences in other events can change how an outcome settles.

Reading the snapshot

The market data was observed at 2026-10-16T03:00:06Z and retrieved at 2026-10-16T04:28:18Z [1]. These are prices from that earlier observation, not live quotes. Each Yes price is a snapshot and is not an executable quote or a verified probability.

Within this event, the included Yes prices run from 0.284 for the Green Bay Packers to 0.0505 for several teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, Las Vegas Raiders, and New England Patriots [1]. Each team's market is a separate binary contract, so these numbers should not be averaged or combined into a single estimate.

The sample is partial. The event has 32 markets, and 12 are included [1]. The selection rule ranks markets by Yes price, then volume, so the omitted markets are outside the included set. Their individual prices are not in the evidence, so the sample does not show that any omitted team is priced lower. Volume is also not a measure of liquidity or trader count.

What remains uncertain

The evidence does not explain why any price is where it is, and it does not show how many traders hold each view. It also contains no recent news about the teams or the season, and no information on how these contracts have performed historically. Differences between the prices of different teams do not, by themselves, indicate an arbitrage opportunity.

Overview

This PredictPedia contract is a Polymarket event titled "Pro Football: 2026-27 Interceptions Leader (Team)." It asks which NFL team will finish the 2026-27 regular season with the most interceptions. Each team has its own yes-or-no market within the event [1]. The contract is still open, so the outcome is not known. Its rules describe how it will be settled, and they do not report what has already happened in the season. The main rule is simple. The market resolves in favor of the team that finishes the 2026-27 regular season with the most interceptions [1]. The rules also set a tie-break order. If teams are tied, the market goes to the tied team with more passes defended during the regular season. If the tie still holds, it goes to the team with fewer total yards allowed per game, calculated as total yards allowed divided by games played. If a tie still persists after that, the market resolves to "Other" [1]. The rules also cover disruptions. If the season ends early, is shortened, or is cut off for any reason, the outcome is decided using available NFL statistics for completed games [1]. If the regular season is cancelled, or is postponed after January 26, 2027 at 11:59 PM ET, the market resolves to "Other." The same applies if it is unclear which team led the NFL in interceptions in that period [1]. The stated resolution source is official NFL information, though a consensus of credible reporting may also be used [1]. The rules list an end time of 2027-01-27T04:59:00.000Z [1]. This is a date written into the contract. It is not an announced event date. For schedule context, a Wikipedia article on the 2026 NFL season says the regular season began on September 9, 2026 and will end on January 10, 2027 [2]. That article describes the season as the 107th in NFL history [2]. The contract's listed end time and the regular season end date are different things, and the contract's rules, not the Wikipedia schedule, define how the market settles. Historical context: The Wikipedia list of career interceptions leaders says the NFL did not begin keeping official records until the 1932 season and did not begin tracking interceptions until 1940 [3]. It also notes that league record books recognize statistics from the American Football League, which operated from 1960 to 1969 before being absorbed into the NFL in 1970 [3]. This background explains why interception records have a long history, but it does not tell us how the 2026-27 season will turn out. Within the saved sample, the Green Bay Packers market had the highest snapshot Yes price, followed closely by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Each price reflects a single observation at a point in time. Prices are not executable quotes or verified probabilities, and the saved sample covers only part of the event's markets.

Historical Context

The Wikipedia list of career interceptions leaders states that the NFL did not begin keeping official records until the 1932 season and did not begin tracking interceptions until 1940 [3]. It also notes that league record books recognize statistics from the American Football League, which operated from 1960 to 1969 before being absorbed into the NFL in 1970 [3]. The 2026 NFL season is described as the 107th season of the league, with the regular season beginning on September 9, 2026 and scheduled to end on January 10, 2027 [2].

Why It Matters

The contract measures which NFL team will record the most interceptions across the 2026-27 regular season [1]. It gives traders a way to express a view on defensive performance for each team. The rules define a winner by the final season total, with tie-breaks based on passes defended and then yards allowed per game [1]. Because the NFL is named as the primary resolution source, the contract's settlement depends on official league statistics, and consensus reporting may be used when needed [1]. Disruption rules also matter. A shortened season is settled on completed games, while a cancellation or a late postponement resolves to "Other" [1].

Snapshot context

The latest published provider snapshot for this topic was observed on 2026-10-16 at 03:00 UTC. It contains listings from Polymarket. Market descriptions and listed closing times define the contracts; they do not establish that the real-world outcome has occurred. This article does not include a separately verified news update.
