Cornerbacks play on the boundary and see more targeted throws. Joseph plays deep center field, which limits his opportunities.

Second, the historical leader totals are high. The NFL interceptions leader has averaged 7.5 picks over the last five seasons. Joseph has never had more than 6 in a season. He would need to beat his career high by at least 2, maybe 3, to win the title.

The market also reflects uncertainty about the Lions defense under new coordinator Kelvin Sheppard. A scheme change could alter Joseph's role or the pass rush pressure that creates his interception chances.

Two catalysts could move this market upward. If the Lions defense generates more pressure in 2026, Joseph could see more errant throws in his zone. Detroit ranked 12th in pass rush win rate in 2024, middle of the pack.
