About This Event

This market will resolve to the coach who wins the 2026 Associated Press (AP) NFL Coach of the Year award for the 2026-27 NFL season. In the event of a tie, this market will resolve according to the official winner as determined by NFL rules. If multiple winners are announced then this market will resolve to the coach whose listed last name comes first alphabetically. If the 2026-27 NFL season is cancelled, postponed after February 28, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or there is otherwise no winner declared within that timeframe, this market will resolve to “Other”. The resolution source for this market will be official information from the NFL; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

This analysis is awaiting a background update, so its prices may be older than the odds above.

What the contract measures

These markets track the 2026 Associated Press NFL Coach of the Year award for the 2026-27 season [1]. Each market asks whether one named coach wins. The source states that a tie resolves "according to the official winner as determined by NFL rules," and that if multiple winners are announced, the market resolves to "the coach whose listed last name comes first alphabetically" [1]. If the season is cancelled, or no winner is declared by the deadline, the market resolves to "Other" [1]. The listed end time is 2027-03-01T04:59:00.000Z [1]. That is the contract's closing time, not an announced date for the award.

Reading the snapshot

The saved data was observed at 2026-10-16T03:00:06Z and retrieved at 05:54:33Z on the same day [1]. These are prices from that observation window, not live quotes. The nine saved markets show Yes prices from 0.026 for Andy Reid to 0.1145 for John Harbaugh. The highest-priced names in the snapshot are Harbaugh (0.1145), Jesse Minter (0.095), and Ben Johnson (0.069) [1]. Each market is a separate binary contract, so these prices should not be read as one ranked field with fixed probabilities.

The nine Yes prices sum to roughly 0.53 in this snapshot. The saved sample does not show the remaining value, and the "Other" outcome described in the rules does not appear among the saved markets. Because of that, the gap should not be read as a lower price for any omitted name.

The sample is labeled as complete for this saved event: all nine markets were included and the partial-sample flag is false [1]. The source also notes that this "does not establish that the providers list every possible real-world outcome" [1].

What remains uncertain

The evidence does not explain why these prices are where they are, and it contains no recent news, trader counts, or liquidity information. Volume is not included in the excerpt, so these prices cannot be treated as executable or as verified probabilities. A single platform's contracts with different wording should not be compared directly with other platforms' listings. Differences in rule text or close times would change what each contract pays out. The only source here is one Polymarket event record, so nothing else about the award's current status can be confirmed from this material.

Overview

The AP NFL Coach of the Year is an annual award that the Associated Press presents to the NFL coach judged to have had the most outstanding season [2]. This Polymarket event concerns the 2026 award for the 2026-27 NFL season [1]. Its markets ask whether a named head coach will win that award, so each market is a yes or no question about one coach. The contract ties resolution to the official result. It states that the market will resolve to the coach who wins the 2026 AP NFL Coach of the Year award [1]. If there is a tie, the contract says resolution follows the official winner as determined under NFL rules. If multiple winners are announced, the market resolves to the coach whose last name comes first alphabetically [1]. The resolution source is official NFL information, although the contract also allows a consensus of credible reporting [1]. The contract also covers cancellation. If the 2026-27 season is cancelled, is postponed after February 28, 2027 at 11:59 PM ET, or no winner is declared within that period, the market resolves to Other [1]. The listed end time is 2027-03-01T04:59:00Z [1]. That is the contract's closing timestamp, not an announced date for the award.

Historical Context

The AP NFL Coach of the Year has been awarded since the 1957 season, and since 2011 the winner has been announced at the annual NFL Honors ceremony [2]. The 2026 NFL season is the 107th season of the league. Its regular season was scheduled to begin on September 9, 2026, and end on January 10, 2027, with the playoffs starting January 16 and Super Bowl LXI set for February 14, 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California [3]. These dates come from a Wikipedia page retrieved on the snapshot date, so they describe the published schedule rather than confirmed current events.

Why It Matters

The contract measures which coach the official NFL process or credible reporting identifies as the 2026 AP NFL Coach of the Year [1]. Because the award is presented to the coach judged to have had the most outstanding season [2], each market turns on that single award outcome. The rules also define how ties, multiple announced winners, and cancelled or unresolved seasons are handled, which matters for reading how the contract settles [1].

Snapshot context

The latest published provider snapshot for this topic was observed on 2026-10-16 at 03:00 UTC. It contains listings from Polymarket. Market descriptions and listed closing times define the contracts; they do not establish that the real-world outcome has occurred. This article does not include a separately verified news update.
