About This Event

This market will resolve to "Yes" if Donald Trump makes a public statement in which he insults any non-fictional individual on the specified date (ET). Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". A qualifying public statement is any written, verbal, or recorded statement which is either made in a public setting, published by the speaker, or on the record to media, and the direct language of which is made publicly available on the specified date (ET). Pre-recorded public statements will count for the date (ET) that they are made publicly available. Statements made in private that are subsequently leaked will not qualify, even if credibly reported. Narrations and paraphrasings do not qualify. Images and videos posted on verified social media accounts will only qualify if they contain insulting language clearly directed at the individual, whether within the content itself or in an accompanying caption. Language within the content of a video will only qualify if Donald Trump is clearly portrayed as saying it. Insulting language within the content of a video said by anyone other than Donald Trump or a portrayal thereof will not qualify. A quote post will qualify if added language independently qualifies as an insult, or endorses insulting language directed at the individual within the quoted post; a repost of another account's post will not qualify. A public statement qualifies as an insult if it mocks, degrades, or disparages the individual either personally or professionally. This includes calling the individual a clearly insulting trait (e.g., weak, stupid, disloyal, a failure), using an insulting nickname (e.g., Crooked Hillary), using other clearly derogatory language, or using the negative form of a positive trait in a clearly derogatory manner (e.g., “He isn’t smart”, “He has no judgment”). Disparaging the individual in their professional capacity will qualify (e.g., "He is a disaster candidate," "He is terrible at his job"); however, negative comments directed at the individual's specific actions, policies, or decisions will not qualify (e.g., "He has bad policies," "He is wrong about healthcare"). A statement made in direct reference to the individual will qualify even if they are not named, so long as it is reasonably clear from context that they are the subject. The resolution sources will be public statements made by Donald Trump and a consensus of credible reporting.

What the contract measures

The contract asks whether Donald Trump will make a public statement that insults a non-fictional individual on a specified date (ET) [1]. A qualifying statement must be made in a public setting, published by the speaker, or on the record to media, and its direct language must be publicly available on that date [1]. Leaked private statements do not qualify, and narrations or paraphrasings do not qualify [1].

The rules define an insult as a statement that "mocks, degrades, or disparages the individual either personally or professionally" [1]. Calling someone a clearly insulting trait or using an insulting nickname counts, but negative comments about "the individual's specific actions, policies, or decisions will not qualify" [1]. The stated resolution sources are "public statements made by Donald Trump and a consensus of credible reporting" [1].

Reading the snapshot

The saved market for September 23, 2026 shows a Yes price of 0.29 and a No price of 0.71 [1]. These are snapshot prices, not executable quotes or verified probabilities. The evidence does not include volume, so it says nothing about liquidity or the number of traders.

The saved event contains one market, and the sample is not marked as partial [1]. The source notes, however, that including all saved markets "does not establish that the providers list every possible real-world outcome" [1]. Because only this contract is present, no comparison with other contracts or platforms is supported.

The listed timing needs care. The observation was recorded at 2026-11-05T06:00:06Z, but the market's listed end date is 2026-09-24T03:59Z and the event's listed end time is 2026-10-01T03:59Z [1]. Both listed times precede the observation, yet the provider status reads "active" [1]. The evidence does not explain this difference, so the snapshot should not be treated as a current market.

What remains uncertain

The evidence does not include a resolution outcome, a closing price, or confirmation of whether the market has settled. It also does not show how the "consensus of credible reporting" standard would apply to a borderline statement. The outcome would depend on whether language is clearly directed at the individual and whether it disparages rather than criticizes policy [1]. Readers should check the provider's current status before relying on these figures.

Overview

This PredictPedia entry covers a Polymarket contract titled "Will Trump publicly insult someone on...?" [1]. The contract asks whether Donald Trump will make a qualifying public insult of any non-fictional individual on a specified date, measured in Eastern Time (ET). The market text describes the specific date as September 23, 2026 [1]. The rules say the market resolves "Yes" if a qualifying statement is made on that date and "No" otherwise [1]. The rules define what counts as a qualifying statement. Written, verbal, or recorded statements count if they are made in a public setting, published by the speaker, or given on the record to media, and their direct language is publicly available on the specified date [1]. Pre-recorded statements count on the date they are made publicly available [1]. Private statements that are later leaked do not count, even if credibly reported, and narrations or paraphrasings do not qualify [1]. The rules also address social media and video content. Images and videos posted on verified accounts qualify only if the insulting language is clearly directed at the individual, either in the content or in a caption [1]. Words in a video count only if Trump is clearly shown saying them [1]. A quote post can qualify if the added language is itself an insult or endorses an insult within the quoted post, but a plain repost does not qualify [1]. An insult, as the rules define it, includes statements that mock, degrade, or disparage a person personally or professionally [1]. Examples in the rules include calling someone a clearly insulting trait, using a derogatory nickname, or using a negative form of a positive trait in a derogatory way [1]. Criticism of a person's specific actions, policies, or decisions does not qualify [1]. A statement can qualify even without naming the person if the context makes clear who is meant [1]. The rules name two resolution sources: public statements made by Trump and a consensus of credible reporting [1].

Why It Matters

The contract measures a narrow, rule-defined event: whether a qualifying insult by Donald Trump is publicly available on one specified date in ET [1]. Its wording separates insults from policy criticism, excludes leaked private remarks and paraphrases, and sets out how videos, reposts, and quote posts are treated [1]. Because the outcome depends on these definitions, the rules matter as much as the question title. The public price snapshot reflects how traders priced this question at the time it was observed, but it is not a verified probability of the outcome [1].
