About This Event

This market will resolve to “Yes” if Turkey becomes formally included in the F-35 program between market creation and the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. Turkey will be considered formally included in the F-35 program if any of the following occur: - Turkey is officially listed by the F-35 Joint Program Office as an F-35 Partner; - Turkey is officially listed by the F-35 Joint Program Office as an F-35 Foreign Military Sales Customer; or - the United States federal government officially announces that Turkey has signed or accepted a Foreign Military Sales Letter (FMS) of Offer and Acceptance (LOA) for F-35 aircraft or F-35 components. Statements of intent, negotiations, sanctions relief, waiver or certification of legal restrictions, congressional notification, or general announcements that the United States supports or is considering an F-35 sale to Turkey will not qualify unless one of the above conditions is met. Once a qualifying action has occurred, this market will resolve to “Yes,” regardless of any subsequent reversal, suspension, or cancellation. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the F-35 Joint Program Office and the United States federal government; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be considered.

This analysis is awaiting a background update, so its prices may be older than the odds above.

What the contract measures

The Polymarket event "Turkey rejoins F-35 program by...?" contains two contracts with different deadlines. The June 30, 2027 contract asks whether Turkey will rejoin the F-35 program by that date, and the December 31, 2026 contract asks the same question for an earlier date [1]. Both are binary, with "Yes" and "No" outcomes.

The rules define "formally included" narrowly. Inclusion requires one of three events: Turkey is listed by the F-35 Joint Program Office as a Partner, Turkey is listed as a Foreign Military Sales Customer, or the U.S. federal government officially announces that Turkey has signed or accepted a Letter of Offer and Acceptance for F-35 aircraft or components [1]. Statements of intent, negotiations, sanctions relief, waivers, congressional notifications, and general support for a sale do not qualify unless one of those conditions is met [1]. Once a qualifying action occurs, the market resolves "Yes" even if it is later reversed [1].

The listed end times differ. The rules state a deadline of 11:59 PM ET on the specified date [1]. The saved end time for the June 2027 contract is 2027-07-01T03:59:00.000Z, and for the December 2026 contract it is 2027-01-01T04:59:00.000Z [1]. These timestamps reflect the listed close times, not any event that has been announced for those dates.

Reading the snapshot

The saved prices were observed at 2026-10-17T15:00:06Z and retrieved at 15:57:19Z [1]. They describe that moment only and are not executable quotes or verified probabilities.

At that observation, the June 30, 2027 contract showed Yes at 0.465 and No at 0.535 [1]. The December 31, 2026 contract showed Yes at 0.29 and No at 0.71 [1]. Both pairs sum to 1.00 within the snapshot. The difference between the two Yes prices reflects two separate contracts with different windows, and the earlier window is shorter. The price gap is not a signal of arbitrage, since the contracts are not identical in terms or timing.

Volume and trader counts are not included in this snapshot, so they cannot be used to judge liquidity or consensus.

What remains uncertain

The saved sample includes both markets in this event, and the coverage record marks the sample as not partial [1]. However, the sample warning states that this does not establish that the providers list every possible real-world outcome [1]. No other outcomes or events are evidenced here.

The supplied evidence contains no news coverage, official Joint Program Office announcements, or explanation for why prices were at these levels. It also does not show how prices have changed over time. Any reading of the prices beyond this snapshot would go past the evidence.

Overview

PredictPedia's F-35 Turkey market is a yes-or-no contract on whether Turkey becomes formally included in the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II program by a set deadline. The F-35 is an American family of single-seat, single-engine, supersonic stealth strike fighters with three main variants: the F-35A, F-35B and F-35C [2]. Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor, with partners Northrop Grumman and BAE Systems [2]. The contract is tied to formal status, not to diplomatic signals. Under the saved rules, a "Yes" resolution requires one of three things: Turkey is officially listed by the F-35 Joint Program Office as an F-35 Partner, Turkey is officially listed by that office as an F-35 Foreign Military Sales Customer, or the U.S. federal government officially announces that Turkey has signed or accepted a Foreign Military Sales Letter of Offer and Acceptance for F-35 aircraft or components [1]. The rules also state that statements of intent, negotiations, sanctions relief, waivers or certifications of legal restrictions, congressional notifications, and general announcements that the United States supports or is considering a sale will not qualify unless one of those formal conditions is met [1]. The saved event contains two markets with different deadlines. One asks whether Turkey will rejoin the program by June 30, 2027, and the other asks about December 31, 2026 [1]. The listed end times fall shortly after 11:59 PM ET on those dates, and the contract wording uses 11:59 PM ET as the cutoff [1]. Each market's price is a snapshot from the observation time in the application's status note, not an executable quote or a verified probability. Because the two markets have different deadlines, their prices reflect different questions and should not be compared as if they were the same contract.

Historical Context

The supplied background on U.S.-Turkey relations states that the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1927 [3]. It says that after World War II relations developed from the Second Cairo Conference in December 1943 and Turkey's entry into World War II on the side of the Allies in February 1945, and that Turkey became a charter member of the United Nations later in 1945 [3]. The same source describes ties strengthened under the liberal international order and bilateral relations advancing within groups including NATO, the OECD and the IMF [3]. The supplied sources do not describe Turkey's past involvement in the F-35 program, so the history of that specific question is not covered here.

Why It Matters

The contract measures a narrow, formal event: whether Turkey is officially listed as an F-35 Partner or Foreign Military Sales Customer, or whether the U.S. government announces a signed or accepted Letter of Offer and Acceptance for F-35 aircraft or components, before the deadline [1]. Because statements of support, negotiations or congressional notifications do not count on their own, the rules separate formal program status from political discussion [1]. Reading the market correctly depends on those criteria rather than on news about the relationship. The F-35 background explains what the aircraft is and who builds it [2], while the relations background gives context for the bilateral relationship [3].

Snapshot context

The latest published provider snapshot for this topic was observed on 2026-10-17 at 15:00 UTC. It contains listings from Polymarket. Frequently Asked Questions

What counts as Turkey being formally included in the F-35 program?

Under the saved rules, Turkey must be officially listed by the F-35 Joint Program Office as an F-35 Partner or as an F-35 Foreign Military Sales Customer, or the U.S. federal government must officially announce that Turkey has signed or accepted a Letter of Offer and Acceptance for F-35 aircraft or components [1].

Do statements of intent or U.S. support for a sale resolve the market?

No, according to the saved rules. Statements of intent, negotiations, sanctions relief, waivers, congressional notifications and general announcements that the United States supports or is considering a sale do not qualify unless one of the formal conditions is met [1].

What happens if a qualifying action is later reversed?

The saved rules say that once a qualifying action has occurred, the market resolves to Yes regardless of any subsequent reversal, suspension or cancellation [1].

Which sources would be used to resolve the market?

The primary resolution source is official information from the F-35 Joint Program Office and the U.S. federal government, though a consensus of credible reporting will also be considered [1].

Why are there two contracts with different dates?

The saved event includes one market asking about rejoining the program by June 30, 2027, and another asking about December 31, 2026 [1]. Each is a separate question with its own deadline, so their prices should not be read as one combined outcome.
