About This Event

This market will resolve to "Yes" if the listed athlete is ranked in the Top 5 of Google’s official Year in Search Global "Athletes" list for 2026. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No." The specified list is expected to be displayed on the Google Trends Year in Search hub, with location selected to Global. The navigation procedure as of market creation involves going to trends.withgoogle.com/year-in-search/ and clicking through Global → Trending → Athletes. The 2026 page is expected to appear using the same navigation once released (as the 2025 page currently shows the specified ranking). This market will resolve based on the specified list regardless of navigation procedure. This market may resolve as soon as the specified list for 2026 is released. If Google does not release the specified list by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "No." The resolution source for this market will be the specified list as published by Google.

This analysis is awaiting a background update, so its prices may be older than the odds above.

Snapshot observed 2026-10-20T06:00:05.944Z. This analysis describes that snapshot and is not a live news update.

What the contract measures

Each contract in this snapshot asks whether a named athlete will rank in the Top 5 of Google's official Year in Search Global "Athletes" list for 2026. The market resolves "Yes" if the athlete is ranked there, and "No" otherwise [1]. The rules say the list is expected on the Google Trends Year in Search hub with location set to Global, and that the market may resolve as soon as the 2026 list is released [1]. If Google does not release the list by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market resolves to "No" [1]. That date is a resolution rule, not an announced release date. The listed end time is 2026-12-31T23:59:00.000Z [1]. Readers comparing contracts should note that the listed end time and the March 2027 rule are different timestamps.

Reading the snapshot

The provider observed these prices at 2026-10-20T06:00:05.944Z, and the record was retrieved at 2026-10-20T07:03:12.630Z [1]. These are observation-time snapshots, not current quotes. Among the 12 included markets, the Yes prices were 0.77 for Erling Braut Haaland, 0.635 for Alysa Liu, and 0.335 for Vozinha [1]. The lowest included Yes price was 0.115 for Anthony Joshua [1]. Each row is a separate binary contract with its own wording, so each price should be read on its own. The prices should not be averaged, compared with other events, or treated as a complete probability distribution.

The sample is partial. The saved event contains 14 markets, and 12 are included, selected by highest finite Yes price and then by volume [1]. The two omitted markets are not shown, so readers should not infer their prices from the included list.

What remains uncertain

The snapshot does not include trading volume, executable bid and ask levels, or the number of traders, and the prices are not verified probabilities [1]. The evidence does not explain why any price moved, and it does not confirm whether Google has released the 2026 list. The provider status is active [1], so the outcome of each contract cannot be determined from this record.

Overview

This contract belongs to a Polymarket event titled "Top 5 Most Searched Athletes on Google 2026" [1]. Each market in the event asks whether a named athlete will rank in the Top 5 of Google's official Year in Search Global "Athletes" list for 2026. A market resolves to "Yes" if the athlete is on that list in the Top 5, and to "No" otherwise [1]. The resolution source is the list as published by Google, not a third-party ranking or a live search-volume figure [1]. The rules describe where the list is expected to appear. It is expected on the Google Trends Year in Search hub, with the location set to Global, through the path Global, then Trending, then Athletes. The 2025 version of the page currently shows the ranking the market refers to, and the rules state that the market will resolve on the specified list regardless of the navigation path used [1]. The timing rules are central to how the contract works. The market may resolve as soon as the 2026 list is released. If Google has not released the list by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market resolves to "No" [1]. The provider lists an end time of December 31, 2026, 23:59 UTC for these markets [1]. These are contract terms, not an announced release date for the Google list. The event snapshot shows the provider status as active at the time it was observed [1]. The event sample is partial: 12 of the 14 markets in the saved event are included here [1]. The sample is ordered by the highest finite Yes price, then by volume, so the omitted markets should not be read as having lower prices or as less likely outcomes. The included markets also should not be combined with rankings from other events.

Why It Matters

The contract measures a single, defined outcome: whether a named athlete appears in the Top 5 of Google's global Athletes list for 2026 [1]. Because the resolution depends on a list that Google publishes, the market is tied to that list's contents and not to any general measure of popularity [1]. The rules also make clear that the outcome is "No" if the list is not released by the stated deadline, so the absence of a published list is itself a resolution condition [1]. Prices shown for these markets are snapshots of trading activity at a given time. They are not executable quotes and not verified probabilities. Trading volume reflects activity in a market and does not indicate how many people hold positions or how deep the market is. A difference in price between two markets is not, by itself, an arbitrage opportunity, since each contract has its own rules and timing.

Snapshot context

The latest published provider snapshot for this topic was observed on 2026-10-20 at 06:00 UTC. It contains listings from Polymarket. Market descriptions and listed closing times define the contracts; they do not establish that the real-world outcome has occurred. This article does not include a separately verified news update.
