About This Event
The 2026 MI-03 House election is currently expected to be held on November 3, 2026. This market will resolve according to the margin of victory between the top two candidates in the specified election. The "margin of victory" is defined as the absolute difference between the percentages of valid votes received by the first-place and second-place candidates. Percentages of the valid votes received by each candidate will be determined by dividing the total number of valid votes each of the top two candidates receives by the sum of all valid votes cast in the election. For purposes of this market, candidates nominated by the Democratic & Republican Parties will represent the options for "Democrat" and "Republican," respectively. Independent candidates will not represent options for either party. The candidates may be named in the contract for the convenience of traders. In the event that any named candidate is replaced as the nominee of their respective party prior to election day, the name in the contract will be updated and the market will resolve based on the replacement nominee of the party. If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher margin bracket. If two or more candidates tie for the most valid votes in this election, and the tie is between two candidates listed, this market will resolve to the lowest margin bracket for the candidate whose ballot-listed last name comes first in alphabetical order. If the tie is between a listed candidate and an unlisted candidate, this market will resolve to the lowest margin bracket for the listed candidate. If the tie is between two or more unlisted candidates, this market will resolve to "Other." If the listed candidate is represented in this market group as "Republican" or "Democrat" their ballot-listed last name will still be used for tiebreaking. This market will resolve based on the official vote count once the count has been made official. If the election results are not known definitively by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". If a recount is initiated before the vote total has been made official, the market will remain open until the recount is completed and the vote is made official. The primary resolution source for this market will be the official results of the 2026 MI-03 House election as published by the state electoral authority responsible for certifying the results of the election; however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

What the contract measures
This event, "MI-03 House Election Margin of Victory," resolves on the margin of victory, defined as "the absolute difference between the percentages of valid votes received by the first-place and second-place candidates" [1]. Each contract covers a bracket of that margin. Independent candidates do not count as either party's option, and the contract text notes that a nominee replaced before election day would be substituted in the contract [1].
The wording varies across contracts. Some ask about a bracket, such as "by 10%-15%," while others ask "by 35% or more" or about the Republican candidate winning outright [1]. These are different questions, so their prices should be read separately rather than compared as interchangeable outcomes.
The rules include edge cases. If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, the market resolves to the higher bracket. Ties follow specified tiebreak rules, and a tie between two or more unlisted candidates resolves to "Other" [1]. If results are not known definitively by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market resolves to "Other" [1]. A date in the rules is a resolution deadline, not an announced event date.
Reading the snapshot
The saved prices were observed at 2026-10-15T21:00:05.939Z and retrieved at 2026-10-15T22:52:02.372Z [1]. They describe that observation, not live conditions now. Each Yes price is a snapshot, not an executable quote or a verified probability.
Among the nine saved markets, the highest Yes prices were for the Democratic 10%-15% bracket at 0.28, the 20%-25% bracket at 0.245, and the 15%-20% bracket at 0.225 [1]. The Republican win contract was at 0.0285, and the 5%-10% Democratic bracket was at 0.003 [1]. Volume is not reported here, and it would not indicate liquidity or trader count anyway.
All listed markets share the same listed end time of 2026-11-04T04:59:00.000Z [1]. Because they share one provider event, comparing their prices is a within-event comparison. The data does not support averaging them or comparing them to other platforms' contracts, whose wording may differ.
What remains uncertain
The evidence covers one provider event with all saved markets included and no partial sample flag [1]. However, the sample warning states that this does not establish that the provider lists every possible real-world outcome [1]. Prices of listed brackets therefore cannot be read as the full distribution.
The snapshot contains no information on why prices are where they are, recent news, trader agreement, or the historical accuracy of such prices. The source excerpt states the election is "currently expected to be held on November 3, 2026," but it provides no further detail on the status of the race [1].

Overview
PredictPedia's MI-03 House Election Margin of Victory event is a set of contracts tied to the 2026 U.S. House election in Michigan's 3rd congressional district. The event's rules say it resolves according to the margin of victory between the top two candidates [1]. The margin is the absolute difference between the percentages of valid votes won by the first-place and second-place candidates, with each percentage calculated by dividing a candidate's valid votes by the total valid votes cast in the election [1]. The contracts therefore do not ask who wins in the simple sense. Instead, they ask how wide the winning margin is, grouped into percentage-point brackets, and one related contract asks whether the Republican Party candidate wins at all. The rules define the two main options by party. Candidates nominated by the Democratic and Republican Parties represent the Democrat and Republican options, and independent candidates do not count as either option [1]. The contract may name candidates for convenience, but if a named nominee is replaced before election day, the name is updated and the market resolves based on the party's replacement nominee [1]. A margin that falls exactly on the boundary between two brackets resolves to the higher bracket [1]. Resolution depends on the official count. The primary source is the official results of the 2026 MI-03 House election as published by the state electoral authority that certifies results, although an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting may also be used [1]. The market stays open through a recount if one is started before the vote total becomes official [1]. If results are not known definitively by June 30, 2027 at 11:59 PM ET, the market resolves to Other [1]. Ties are handled by a separate tiebreak rule based on ballot-listed last names, which the rules describe in detail [1]. The saved provider record lists the event as active, with a listed end time of 2026-11-04T04:59:00Z [1]. That end time is a date recorded in the contract data. It is not an announced event time, and it does not show that results are available.
Historical Context
The 2026 MI-03 contracts sit within a broader set of 2026 Michigan House races. A Wikipedia article on those elections states that the 13 U.S. representatives from Michigan, one from each congressional district, will be elected on November 3, 2026, alongside other federal, state and local elections, and that the primaries took place on August 4, 2026 [3]. Earlier House elections provide a general reference point. The 2018 House elections were held on November 6, 2018, as midterm elections that voters used to choose representatives from all 435 congressional districts [2]. These sources provide background on the election calendar only and do not report the outcome of the MI-03 race.
Why It Matters
The contract measures the size of the winning margin in a single House race, not the overall outcome of Michigan's House elections. Because the brackets are defined by percentage-point gaps between the top two candidates, the contract reflects how decisively one candidate is expected to win in the official count [1]. The Republican Party candidate contract is a separate question about which party wins the race [1]. Users should read the exact bracket wording and resolution rules in the contract, since boundary rules, tie rules, independent candidates and the deadline all affect how a contract settles [1].
Snapshot context

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the margin of victory calculated?
The margin is the absolute difference between the percentages of valid votes received by the first-place and second-place candidates. Each percentage is the candidate's valid votes divided by the total valid votes cast in the election [1].
Do independent candidates count as options in these contracts?
No. Candidates nominated by the Democratic and Republican Parties represent the Democrat and Republican options, and independent candidates do not represent either option [1].
What happens if a margin falls exactly between two brackets?
The market resolves to the higher margin bracket in that case [1].
What happens if the election is not resolved by the deadline?
If the election results are not known definitively by June 30, 2027 at 11:59 PM ET, the market resolves to Other [1].
Does a recount affect resolution?
If a recount is initiated before the vote total is official, the market remains open until the recount is completed and the vote is made official [1].
What source determines resolution?
The primary source is the official results of the 2026 MI-03 House election as published by the state electoral authority responsible for certifying results, though an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting may also be used [1].
