About This Event

This market will resolve to “Yes” if Donald Trump resigns or is removed as President or otherwise ceases to be the President of the United States for any period of time by May 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. An announcement of Donald Trump's resignation/removal before this market's end date will immediately resolve this market to "Yes", regardless of when the announced resignation/removal goes into effect. Only permanent removal from office will qualify. Tem

Current Market Outlook

Polymarket traders price a Trump departure from the presidency by June 30, 2026, at just 2%. That means the market sees this as a remote possibility, roughly a 1-in-50 chance. With $4.4 million in volume, this is a heavily traded contract, and the price has held steady near this floor for months. The 2% figure is notable because it sits just above the market's minimum tick, suggesting traders are willing to pay a small premium for the tail risk of a constitutional crisis, but they are not assigning any real probability to a specific removal scenario.

Key Factors Driving the Odds

The market is pricing near-zero because removal mechanisms are all procedurally difficult. Impeachment requires a House majority and a two-thirds Senate conviction, and Republicans hold both chambers. The 25th Amendment requires the Vice President and a majority of the Cabinet to declare Trump unfit, an action that has never succeeded in American history and would require defections from his own appointees. Resignation is the only realistic path, and Trump has shown no indication he intends to step down, despite his age and legal entanglements.

Historical precedent matters here. No president has been removed from office via impeachment, and Richard Nixon's 1974 resignation came only after the House Judiciary Committee approved articles of impeachment with bipartisan support. The current political alignment offers no equivalent pressure. Trump's legal troubles, including the hush money conviction and federal indictments, have not eroded his control over the Republican Party, making a forced exit politically implausible.

What Could Change These Odds

A serious health event is the most credible catalyst. Trump turns 80 in June 2026, and his age places him in a demographic with elevated mortality risk. But the market distinguishes between death and removal, and this contract resolves "No" if Trump dies, so health concerns do not move this price.

The larger risk to the 2% consensus would be a dramatic political rupture, such as a mass Cabinet revolt following a national crisis or a Republican primary challenge that fractures his support. Those scenarios are speculative, and traders have consistently rejected them. The market is effectively saying that institutional processes will hold, and Trump will serve out his term. Anyone buying "Yes" at 2% is betting on an unprecedented constitutional event, not a likely outcome.
